10 Ways to Free Your Mind Right Now

“An unhealthy mind, even in a healthy body, will ultimately destroy health”

– Manly P Hall

When you are on your path, you’ll likely have negative energies in the form of unwanted thoughts, annoyances, discomfort, or anxiety. as persistent worries, or recurring concerns that don’t go away. The world’s greatest adepts knew that the more you try to free your mind of these thoughts, the more persistent they become.

In India, there was a guru who could levitate. A wealthy business man heard about this guru and thought surely he could learn from this adept the art of levitation. He went to visit the Guru and was told to go back home, and while meditating to not think of a monkey. The student questioned his master’s method but he did as instructed. However, he found that the more he concentrated on nonthinking about the monkey, his mind would actually focus not he image even more. Soon dozens of dancing monkeys in his mind making it hard to meditate without the thought of a monkey. What he did not realize is the master adept knew the student needed to conquer himself before he was ready to reaching the instruction for levitation.

For example: try not to think about a big pink elephant. Chances are the more you concentrate on not thinking about the elephant, the more your mind will actually focus on that image. This is because the mind is not good with focusing on “not doing” something.
The best way to free your mind from unwelcome or unwanted thoughts to is engage it with other thoughts or to remove or resolve the cause of the thoughts you are having. Here are 10 ways that you can free your mind immediately:

1. Meditate

Throughout the annals of time meditation has been used to clear and free the mind. This leads to the practice of concentration which is required before one can start to shift currents within the body and access the pineal gland. When it comes to meditation there are many forms and meditation doesn’t have to involve burning candles and sitting in the lotus position; it can simply be sitting comfortably, allowing thoughts to enter your mind and pass through without engaging in them. Doing this for as little as ten minutes can be enough to free your mind from persistent or annoying thoughts. Or start with five minutes on the first day, then challenge yourself to ten minutes, and eventually twenty minutes on the following days. Work to to thirty minutes. This will help develop your concentration while eliminating unwanted thoughts.

2. Exercise

Exercising focuses the body on its physical requirements and takes your attention off your mind. Exercise also releases endorphins and lowers cortisol, often bringing about a more positive and happier mood. We know you love engaging with our official facebook page, and posting in the Adept Initiates facebook group, but give yourself permission to break away and go get some exercise. Preferably in nature if possible. It is not healthy to sit in front of a computer screen or gaze upon your smart phone all day. We thank you for the support but we care about your healthy first and foremost!

3. Practice EFT

Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) is something that can be learnt quickly (in a matter of minutes) and can help you to feel better immediately. EFT is often also called “tapping”. EFT involves verbalising the problem or issue in hand whilst using an affirmation phrase and tapping energy points on the body.

4. Smile and laugh

Research shows that you will feel better for smiling and laughing, even when you don’t feel like it! Your brain registers the movements of the muscles in your face when you smile and then releases hormones and chemicals that make you feel good. Your improved emotions will make it easier to change how you are thinking. The next time you feel the need to engage with a troll who is disrupting a post, or upset how the sheep around you are still sleeping, or how someone doesn't agree with your position on the flat earth theory don't let it bother you. Smile. 😊

5. Make it Happen

Do one thing today that you’ve been putting off or take it to the next level and do something that typically elicits fear inside of you. Your mind will be brought into sharp focus by the adrenaline your body produces.

6. Drop some physical possessions

A calming environment free from clutter can help you get into a more relaxed state of mind. Without the distraction of clutter around, you are freer to let your mind focus on more positive thoughts. Sometimes we attribute value to physical possessions that binds us to the object. Free Yourself.

7. Let go of regrets

To let go of regrets, you could write a letter to yourself or make a list and then burn or throw it into a stream as a ritual of letting the regrets go. Allow the energy to flow freely back in the universe and feel a weight lifted off your shoulders. Make peace with yourself. The past is history and the future is a mystery. Learn to appreciate the moment - and actually live in it! Not inside your head.

8. Practice self-love

Honor yourself and your choices and let go of self criticism and judgement. Far too often we seek the love of others to fill something missing within ourselves but we need to first learn to appreciate who we are. Get past the social programming and condition. Get past what they told us about ourselves. You are an amazing beautiful being of life having a human experience and you have infinite potential. Love yourself first and get to know thy self.

9. Spend time alone

Get used to your own company and enjoy just “being” without the need for constant company, entertainment, or being busy for its own sake. If you are not comfortable by yourself - learn to become comfortable with being uncomfortable. This will also strengthen your character and prepare you for what is to come.

10. Find like-minded and positive people

Like begets like. When you spend time with positive and like-minded people, you spend more of your time in the moment instead of over-thinking or analyzing yourself. You can get started here

Above all, there can be no progress made in Occultism unless there be self-control; and that which really determines the growth of a student in his power to control himself. Without this power, intuition cannot be fully awakened, clairvoyance and clairaudience cannot manifest and the initiates development is otherwise negatively affected.

An Adept Initiate cannot concentrated on a person at a distance and get his thoughts, unless he has the power to make his own objective mind quiescent while the power of concentration is put into action.
